Marine Toys for Tots Foundation
http://www.toysfortots.org

The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.

The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.

White House Commission: Time of Remembrance
http://www.remember.gov/GoldMedalofRemembrance

The Gold Medal of Remembrance is a special memento that recognizes and honors the children who have recently lost a parent in Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom. It is a reminder to everyone that casualties are found not only on the battlefield but also at home. Over 700 Gold Medals have been presented to the children of fallen service members. The first 180 of these medals were presented to the children at the Time of Remembrance Tribute on the National Mall in 2006. This Tribute continues each fall. Many of the state societies attend the ceremony, meet with the families from their home state, and listen to stories about their loved ones who have made the extreme sacrifice for our country.

The Commission on Remembrance hopes to present a Gold Medal of Remembrance to every child in our country who has lost a mother or father.
